Facebook Fires up Its Political Action Committee

Facebook continued to show off its growing political muscle Tuesday night, as its nascent political action committee disclosed an impressive six-figure haul during its inaugural fundraising quarter. Facebook PAC raised a total of $170,000 during the final three months of 2011. And while it has yet to donate to a single politician on Capitol Hill, it revealed at least one important fact with its first fundraising report: the company is capable of tapping a friendly and powerful network of donors to come up with a serious amount of campaign cash. Namely, its own employees.

Stop Mitt or Lose (Saturbray)

This is how we know what LOVE is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. 1 John 3:16 We just lost a special election here in Oregon where the establishment ran a self described moderate and lost twice in a row. When all of the experts try to explain that you have to run the perfect candidate to satisfy the moderates you need to ask them by what proof do they come up with that truth? There is more proof of Global Warming than moderate candidates winning elections...

Global Warming Quote of the Day

Just in case there is anyone out there who still thinks the global warming alarmist movement is about the globe warming (which it hasn’t been doing for quite some time), it might be instructive to consider the words of one of the warmist champions. Today we offer it up as our Global Warming Quote of the Day: . . .

Getting back to the gold standard (Gold, not Paper Money, is the Future)

Jim Grant’s rise to power may be delayed. The legendary Wall Street writer, publisher of Grant’s Interest Rate Observer, has been mentioned by two of the rivals for the Republican presidential nomination. Newt Gingrich said if elected president, he’d name Grant to help run a commission looking at a possible return to the gold standard. And Ron Paul said, if elected president, he’d go all-in and name Grant — one of Wall Street’s best-known gold bugs — as the new chairman of the Federal Reserve. As Paul wants to abolish the Fed, it would doubtless be a temporary post. But...

Dave Says Keep Your Money and Teeth

Dear Dave, In your plan, you talk about Baby Step 3 as saving enough to have three to six months of expenses in your emergency fund. My husband and I were wondering how you can determine whether you need to be on the low end or high end of that range? Amanda Dear Amanda, Lots of times in a marriage you’ll have a situation where one person wants to save more, while the other is excited to move on toward investing. Technically, neither is wrong. So, the emergency fund really deals with someone’s own personal level of peace. Remember Murphy’s...

Scott Walker is raking in money at a pace not seen before in Wisconsin politics as he prepares to face the state's first-ever gubernatorial recall, taking in more than $4.5 million over five weeks. The Republican governor has traveled the country to raise money in recent...

Gingrich Raises $1 Million in 24 Hours

Following his come-from-behind victory in South Carolina, GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich raised $1 million in 24 hours through a "moneybomb" fundraiser, his campaign announced on Sunday. But Mitt Romney is still winning the money game. The former speaker has significant ground to make up financially, considering the Romney campaign's $15 million advantage in last quarter's fundraising. The Romney campaign expects to raise over $10 million in the run-up to the Florida primary, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Gingrich makes play for gold vote

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Newt Gingrich has moved to capture some Republican voters who lean toward Ron Paul and other Republicans who were Jack Kemp followers by naming two gold bugs to the Gingrich future team of advisers. The former House speaker says he intends to appoint investment banker Lewis E. Lehrman, famous in the Reagan era for his red suspenders and gold-standard advocacy, and Jim Grant, editor of Grant’s Interest Rate Observer, as President Gingrich’s Gold Commission - if and when of course Mr. Gingrich wins both the Republican nomination and the general election in November. Mr. Paul, a Texas...
